I've hunted in every type of stand that can be imagined, from sitting on the ground to climbers. I personally prefer to use a climber. My favorite climber is the "Ol' Man" Grand Vision. I feel safe and comfortable, even at heights of 25' and 30'. Of course, I always wear a safety harness. I feel that I can see more and my body odor is disbursed, allowing me to stay longer in the stand.

Personally, I'm an Ol' Man fan, but I've been having a hankering to try out the Lone Wolf Climbers.
I have climbers, ladder and ground blinds, I like all three of them. My climbing stand is a tree lounge, and I have two ladder stands and one gound blind. Before I decide which one to hunt I will wait till I get to the grounds and check the wind then I make up my mind as to which one I will use. But on the opening morning of rifle season I always head to my favorite ladder stand, for some reason it is just magical on the first day.
I have always liked hunting out of my ladder stands. When I go to another camp I usually hunt either on the ground under the stand or get in it...depending on how tall and small it is. I have also used a ground blind that you step into but really prefer my ladder stands. My husband has a walk in cypress stand with roof that I really like. I'm getting up in age now and I feel like closer to the ground is much safer for me.
I love my Summit. I can sit all day and never get tired. The Ol Man is not a bad stand I have had one and really liked it. But after I got a Summit I cant see myself ever changing.
I have hunted in all stands as well. Ground blinds, box stands, climbers, lean ons, lock ons, ladder stands. We use a lot of lock ons where I hunt during bow season because they are all set up on feeders. But, when the Rut starts, I take a climber and move around a good bit, depending on what the deer or doing and where they are moving.

I have used an Ol Man the last few years, but my dad bought one a few years ago, cant remember the name brand, it may be a Summit, Im not sure, its heavy but once you get it to the area your hunting it is unreal how safe and comfortable it is. I really like it a lot.
I hope you and your Dad are wearing a safety harness!
Of Course! We dont get in the tree without it! Speaking of, I need to get a new one for this year, I seemed to have misplaced mine after the season was over this past year.
I like the Hunters Safety System vest, it's the most comfortable harness that I've worn. You can get to them from Talk Hunting and buy it on line. Tell them you saw it on TH.
Well that depends. I use to like climbers but after having a sliding down the tree moment at my age I gave them up. For most of my Rifle Hunts or stand hunts I love my millenium stand. Its a lounge chair 20 feet up. But If I am bow hunting I prefer the Millenium M100 Lock on. Very safe and very comfortable. I like the larger base for standing up to shoot and it still has the fold up lounge chair when you need a break from standing. I have tried many many stands and its a personal choice. Once I found what i liked and what allowed me to spend longer in the woods I stuck with it.
