The Youth Hunt was successful. We had the two Bowen brothers hunting
with us this weekend. Branson Bowen was hunting with our TH member Elbis
on his personal stand and food plot Saturday evening, and right at 5 PM
two bucks came into the food plot. One was high rack 4 point and the
other was a nice basket rack 8 point. Branson decided on the 8 point,
even though the 4 point was a bigger bodied deer. He could have taken
either legally for the youth hunt. It only took one round with his .243
to the shoulder, not tracking was required. His 8 point weighed 125
pounds and was healthy and fat. It is a great trophy for a first buck
and a story that will be retold for many years.

And a polite, courteous and well mannered young man, I might add, as was his younger brother. It was a pleasure to share the camp with them, and their dad, Todd.

Congratulations Branson. You were calm and made good decisions. I hope this is the first of many. There are much worse places to be than in the woods. Glad I could be a part of your adventure.
