Tough Hunting Northeast without the heavy rut

I have been out several times with rifle and muzzleloader but to me it seems that NY rut is a tad late up north...I'm lucky that I live in the southern tier 5 miles from the northern tier line..and am able to hunt both areas within minutes of each other...but it's still tough when the rut isn't their. I'll do better in the southern tier in less than 2 weeks I have watched some small bucks while turkey hunting do some weak pre-rut action...trouble is I'm splitting between turkey, deer, goose, duck, pheasant not enough time to do it all. Good luck to everyone...I don't bow hunt but that would be another challenge trying to fit it in. God Bless.

thanks DLR, I've seen a lot of scrapes and hookins but I saw 2 mature bucks and 2 adult does and one doe didnt even have a buck following her...I think the heavy rut will occur during the season and that might be the best for us and Mike's Magic

DP, here in Pa I haven't seen a lot of rut activity either. I did see a nice buck this past friday and he was showing signs of the rut starting to come in. Watched him lick a branch and make a small scrape on two different tree's. Man now that was exciting. Anyway good luck with your hunting.....
